Proof that We Need to Know the Schemes of Satan and their Remedies

For proof, consider these Scriptures:

  • Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. The word here rendered "schemes" signifies a snare that is meant to entrap someone. It is used of an ambush in war that is meant to catch someone when they are least aware.  Satan does more harm while wearing his sheep skin than he does when roaring like a lion.
  • 2 Timothy 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. The word translated "come to their senses" refers to one who is alseep or drunk and who awakens to the reality of their predicament. The word "held captive" refers to being taken alive.  It is a warlike word that speaks of a soldier being taken captive as a prisoner of war.  Satan has traps suited for every type of man...for the wise and the simple; for the hypocrite and the righteous; for the generous and the greedy; for the rich and the poor; and for the young and the old. Blessed is the man who is not captured in Satan's traps!
  • Revelation 2:24 'But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them-- I place no other burden on you. The poor souls in Thyatira thought that their opinions were the deep things of God, when they were instead, the deep things of Satan. You may think your opinions are deep, and they may be, but they are things that Satan has brought up from the depths of Hell. They are the whisperings and hissings of the serpent, not the inspirations of God.

Reading vs. Meditating & Acting

It is not hasty reading, but serious meditating upon holy and heavenly truths, that make them prove sweet and profitable to the soul.  It is not the bee's touching of the flower that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time upon the flower that draws out the sweet.  It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.

Know that it is not the reading man, but the doing man, that will be found the happiest man... If it is not strong upon your heart to practice what you read, then why do you read?  Is it to increase your own condemnation?  If light and knowledge are not turned into practice, the more you know, the more miserable you will be in the day of judgment.  Light and knowledge will torment you more than all the devils in hell.
