- Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. The word here rendered "schemes" signifies a snare that is meant to entrap someone. It is used of an ambush in war that is meant to catch someone when they are least aware. Satan does more harm while wearing his sheep skin than he does when roaring like a lion.
- 2 Timothy 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. The word translated "come to their senses" refers to one who is alseep or drunk and who awakens to the reality of their predicament. The word "held captive" refers to being taken alive. It is a warlike word that speaks of a soldier being taken captive as a prisoner of war. Satan has traps suited for every type of man...for the wise and the simple; for the hypocrite and the righteous; for the generous and the greedy; for the rich and the poor; and for the young and the old. Blessed is the man who is not captured in Satan's traps!
- Revelation 2:24 'But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them-- I place no other burden on you. The poor souls in Thyatira thought that their opinions were the deep things of God, when they were instead, the deep things of Satan. You may think your opinions are deep, and they may be, but they are things that Satan has brought up from the depths of Hell. They are the whisperings and hissings of the serpent, not the inspirations of God.
